The R1 is an Expressway in Slovakia, which connects the cities of Bratislava, Trnava, Sered, Nitra,
Žarnovica, Žiar nad Hronom, Zvolen, Banská Bystrica and Ruzomberok. Originally it was planned as Highway D65, but after the rejection of the highway category D22,5 in 1999, this was changed to an Express road. The total length is 262 km.
